Our Novonappa® (also known as Barenia) French Calf is a combination-tanned leather from the Tannery Haas, near the river Rhine and in the alpine regions of France. Novonappa® French Calf is famous for its incredibly soft and smooth matte surface. This leather has excellent recovery against mild water stains and light scratches, making it a favourite for watch straps. Novonappa was traditional developed as a saddlery leather for Hermes but is now commonly used in bags and watch straps.

The Gold Standard for Leather Watch Straps

All of our watch straps are entirely handmade, utilising traditional leathercrafting techniques. They are cut, saddle stitched and edge painted by hand to ensure your straps are durable and develop character with wear. All of our straps are lined with Zermatt leather, a hypoallergenic and water-resistant french calf leather. As all our leathers are full-grain leathers, the natural characteristics of the leather will show and may vary across straps.

Sizing - What Size Fits My Watch?

The two numbers in the sizing dropdown follows the following format: Lug Width/Buckle Width

The most important measurement is the Lug Width. The lug width refers to the width of the strap where it connects to the watch.

The Buckle Width refers to the width of the strap at the buckle.

For example a 20mm/16mm strap has a lug width of 20mm, and a buckle width of 16mm. This means the strap tapers from 20mm at the lugs of the watch down to 16mm at the buckle. For more information, click here.

What Length Best Suits My Wrist?

As an approximate guide:

Extra Small: 95mm/65mm fits a wrist size of 5.25 - 6.0 inches (13.5cm-15.25cm)
Small: 105mm/70mm fits a wrist size of 6 - 6.75 inches (15.25cm-17.25cm)
Standard: 115mm/75mm fits a wrist size of 6.5 inches to 7.2 inches (16.5cm-18.25cm)
Large: 125mm/80mm fits a wrist size of 7.2 inches - 8.25 inches (18.25cm - 20.8cm)
Custom: We can accomodate custom lengths for made-to-order straps

Strap Care & Maintenance

With our leather straps, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with, and submerging the strap in water.

Wiping down the lining with a damp cloth or towel every few weeks will prevent sweat and gunk from building up.

Hypoallergenic Calfskin Lining

In order to provide a luxurious feel, the straps are lined with Zermatt calfskin leather from Haas Tannery. This premium material is specially developed for use as a lining material and offers exceptional softness and comfort. It is also water and sweat-resistant, making it ideal for use in hot and humid climates.

Fine Hand Stitching

Our made-to-order straps showcase a fine hand-stitching density. With a spacing of 2.4mm per stitch, this creates a very refined look. Should you wish to go for a more rugged look, we also offer thicker thread and wider density stitching at 2.7mm and 3.0mm.

Strap Thickness

Our standard unpadded strap thickness is 2.2mm and padded strap thickness tapers from 4.5mm to 2.2mm. We are able to customise the thickness of the strap accordingly.

316L Stainless Steel Buckle

Our straps comes installed with a 316L stainless steel buckle which is engraved with our Artisan Straps logo. This buckle comes with drilled lug holes allowing for easy removal without damaging the strap.

Spring Bars

Choose between regular spring bars, quick-release spring bars or no spring bars. While quick-release spring bars are our preference as we love to change straps, we also understand it's not everyones cup of tea!

Smooth & Polished Edges

The edges of our straps are finished with Italian edge paint - sealing the raw edges from wear and tear. With over 5 layers of edge paint applied and rigorous sanding in between, our straps exhibit a beautiful smooth edge.

The shipping was fast using DHL express. The strap quality is very good. It feels soft and nice. However, I cannot justify the price. Also, it takes 1-2 weeks for the shop to prepare the strap. Communication can be somewhat challenging for some people who have a short temper. I asked for an update on the strap and it took a few hours for a reply.
